Team Announcement: NPEC v Wairarapa Bush (6th November 2021)

The Final round of the 2021 Bunnings Heartland Championship is now upon us, and Ngāti Porou East Coast travel to Masterton to take on Wairarapa-Bush at Masterton.

Coming off last weeks impressive victory over Poverty Bay,  Ngāti Porou East Coast are having the best heartland season season since 2013 with 2 wins and 15pts ( 2013 – 2 wins , 13pts) .

Not since 2012 have Ngāti Porou East Coast won 3 or more games in the Heartland Championship so the opportunity is there to make a statement, looking towards the 2022 campaign.

Missing from this weekends game are:

With Hosea Gear returning to Australia this week, with the blessing of the Rugby Union, the team will be ably led by Forwards Coach: Morgan Wirepa Jnr, Manager: Leroy Kururangi and Scrum Coach/hydration specialist: Laman Davies.

The injuries provide an opening for a possible Ngāti Porou East Coast  debut for another Gear !

Rico Gear has been named in the reserves.
Rico last appeared in Heartland in 2016 for Poverty Bay.
