Ngati Porou East Coast Rugby Union are excited to announce the appointment of Troy Para and Wayne Ensor as Heartland Coaches.

Of Te Aitanga-a-Mate descent, Troy Para has an impressive Club Coaching history, with three Senior championships to his name as Coach of Masterton Marist and Hikurangi.  He was Heartland Assistant Coach in 2014, NPEC Under 18’s Coach in 2015 and is currently the NPEC Rugby Development Officer.

Wayne Ensor has played all his representative rugby in Poverty Bay, but hails from Anaura Bay.  His Grandfather Arthur ‘Toot’ Lincoln was Captain of East Coast in 1947.

Wayne holds Level 3 Advanced Coaching, and World Rugby Educators Certificates, and has also won three club championships with Premiere Club High School Old Boys.

The duo presented a very comprehensive plan to the NPEC board, securing the top job.

Their focus on team culture and “growing great men” resonated with the BOT as did the focus on individual motivation.

Employed on a two year tenure, the Coaches will be hitting the ground running with recruitment and training starting in March.  We welcome Troy and Wayne and look forward to a great season.
